CERNAS – Research Center for Natural Resources, Environment and Society, is a research unit hosted by the Polytechnic University of Coimbra (IPC), the Polytechnic University of Castelo Branco  (IPCB), the Polytechnic University of Viseu (IPV) and by the Polytechnic University of Santarém (IPSantarém), financed by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT).

CERNAS has a scope focused on regional issues relating to the region of Central Portugal, in a multidisciplinary response to global issues by applying the capacity of their human and material resources to solve concrete problems.

We have all the conditions to claim the path of excellence, persisting in the growing autonomy of the development of our activities.
