António Pedro Andrade Vicente
António Pedro Andrade Vicente completed his PhD in Veterinary Sciences with a specialization in Animal Production at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Lisbon, in 2015. He is a Coordinating Professor at the Agrarian School of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém. He has published 30 articles in specialized journals, 18 papers in conference proceedings, 5 book chapters, and one book. He has produced 78 technical items. He has participated in 15 international events and 79 events in Portugal. He has supervised 52 undergraduate and bachelor's theses and 5 master's theses in the fields of Animal and Dairy Science, Veterinary Sciences, and Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. He has received 2 awards and/or honors. Between 2011 and 2024, he participated in 4 research projects in the area of genetic resources and equine studies. His research focuses on Agricultural Sciences with an emphasis on Animal and Dairy Science and Veterinary Sciences, particularly in swine and equine genetic resources. Throughout his professional career, he has collaborated with 88 co-authors on scientific publications. From 2014 to 2022, he served as the technical secretary of the Genealogical Book of the Malhado de Alcobaça pig breed. He is a founding member and secretary of the board of the Portuguese Society for Animal Genetic Resources (SPREGA) and a member of the National Commission for Animal Genetic Resources. He is also a member of the Working Group on Equine Research (GTIE). Additionally, he is a full member of the Order of Engineers (No. 48592) and an international judge for Working Equitation and the Lusitano breed, as well as a National Level 3 Dressage judge. He provides technical consultancy for stud farms in Portugal and abroad.
