Filipe Madeira, graduated in agricultural sciences and environment (5 years) in 2008 from Escola Superior Agrária, Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, master in integrated pest management (2 years, 120 ECTS) in 2011 and European doctor in agricultural sciences and food technology (agricultural entomology) in 2014 from the University of Lleida (Spain); awarded the best doctoral thesis in agricultural sciences at the University of Lleida (2015). During PhD, he stayed for several months (> 2 months, 13 months) in different international laboratories of ecology and agroecology (Uni. Sapienza, Italy; Agroecology group, Uni. Göttingen, Germany; and Uni. Belgrade, Serbia) working and participating in different laboratory and field studies related to insect biology and ecology, movement of predatory insects between habitats/crops with a focus on assessing the function of these habitats in relation to biological control. From Feb. 2015 to June 2019, he was a researcher at the University of Lleida - Agrotecnio Center (Entomologia Lab.), participating in several research projects in the fields of agricultural entomology, landscape ecology, and biological control. From June 2019 to June 2022, at the Collaborative Laboratory Mountains of Research (MORE CoLab) in Bragança, participating in the identification of project opportunities, preparation and submission of applications and in the execution of research and innovation projects and services, provision of technology transfer services and actions. From June 2022 to February 2024, as a junior researcher at the Centro de Investigação de Montanha (CIMO) of the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, he participated in various research projects in the field of olive crop protection. He participated as an invited professor at the Escola Superior Agrária of the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança teaching some subjects in the CTeSP, undergraduate, and master's degrees. Since February 2024, he has been an assistant professor at the Escola Superior Agrária of the Instituto Politécnico de Santarém. During his professional career, he has been involved in numerous national and international research projects and participated as a speaker at several national and international conferences. Author of 2 book chapters and 24 articles in indexed journals. Associate editor at Modern Concepts and Developments in Agronomy (MCDA), guest editor for two special issues in the scientific journals Horticulturae and Crops (MDPI). Advisory board member for topics at Horticulturae (MDPI) and member of the panel of reviewers for multiple journals. Supervised 5 master's thesis and numerous research students and fellows in field and laboratory research projects.
