Soraia Inês Pedro
Soraia Inês Pedro has a degree in Biological and Food Engineering (2015) (final grade 14/20) from the Escola Superior Agraria de Castelo Branco and a Master's degree in Innovation and Quality in Food Production (2018) (final grade 17/20) from the Escola Superior Agrária de Castelo Branco. Since 2020, she has been enrolled in a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Beira Interior, where she is doing her thesis on the valorization of Acacia biomass as a resource of natural compounds for the food or pharmaceutical industry. She is currently a senior technician on the "BeeLand" project (PRR-C05-i03-I-000081), where she carries out laboratory analyses of honey, using analytical techniques such as: vibrational spectroscopy (NIR, FTIR and RAMAN), chromatography and analysis of honey quality parameters. Fellow of the Acacia4FirePrev project - Exploring acacia biomass: A way to reduce the risk of fires, co-funded by FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology. This project's work plan included multi-element analysis using techniques based on infrared spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR) and RAMAN technology in combination with multivariate data analysis and analytical tests for characterizing forest biomass using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC) extraction techniques.

Fellow of the MobFood, PPS6 project led by SONAE, where she worked on the physical-chemical and rheological characterization of fruit and worked with infrared spectroscopy techniques. He has worked on GC/MS for the characterization of the aromatic profile of wines at the Agri-Food Technological Support Centre and on a new product at Schreiber Foods Portugal. She has collaborated on work/projects with NIR, FTIR and RAMAN analysis on different matrices (brandies, woods, yogurts, vegetable drinks, Rocha pear, Golden apple, fruit preparations, cheeses, propolis and juices). Based on these techniques, he has collaborated on twelve publications in JCR journals and participated in 25 conferences (national and international), with oral or poster communications.
