She obtained her Ph.D. in Health Sciences, specializing in Biomedical Sciences, in 2017 from the University of Coimbra - Faculty of Medicine. She holds a Master's degree in Vision Sciences from the University of Coimbra - Faculty of Medicine, completed in 2007, and a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Lisbon - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, earned in 1992.

She is an Adjunct Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu and has published several articles in specialized journals related to her fields of expertise. She has one book chapter to her credit, organized 17 events, and participated in 43 events. She has co-supervised 3 Master's dissertations and guided approximately 100 undergraduate thesis projects. She has received 5 awards for her contributions.
