Adélcia Veiga
Adelcia Veiga has been pursuing her PhD since 2022 at Wageningen University and Research (WUR) and the Polytechnic University of Coimbra (IPC)—CERNAS (Research Center for Natural Resources, Environment, and Society). Her PhD focuses on the distribution of multiple pesticide residues in the agricultural environment (soil, air, and agricultural commodities) and their impact on the environment and human health. Currently, she is investigating pesticide contamination in ambient air using passive samplers and is working with cell lines and human organoids (airways and gut) to study the potential effects of complex pesticide residue mixtures (SPRINT Project, https://sprint-h2020.eu/index.php/project-information/phd-msc-and-bsc-students).
She completed her Master's degree in Food Engineering at IPC—Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra. She has published four journal articles and contributed to three book chapters. She has organized one event and participated in four others. Additionally, she has been involved in two projects as a research fellow and two as a collaborator. Her research focuses on Agricultural Sciences, with an emphasis on Agricultural and Food Biotechnology, as well as Soil Science.
In her professional activities, she has collaborated with 59 co-authors on scientific publications. Her CiênciaVitae curriculum frequently includes terms such as vineyards, management practices, long-term impacts, soil properties, soil quality, agricultural management practices, sludge, heavy metals, and pesticides.
