Carla Moura

Carla Moura
Carla Moura obtained her PhD from the MIT-Portugal Program in Bioengineering (2016). In addition, she has a Master's Degree in Product Development (2011) and a degree in Biomechanics (2008), both from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. Her research activities started in 2009 when she became a member of the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development of the Polytechnic of Leiria (CDRSP-PLeiria). In her master, she developed a selector of biomaterials for biomedical applications. During this time, she had the opportunity to participate in and organise several international scientific conferences, such as VR@P and ICTE conferences, and be part of the BioFab network (thematic Network on Biomanufacturing: Materials, Processes and Simulation. After her master, she was accepted in the MIT-Portugal PhD Program in Bioengineering and won a FCT grant [SFRH/BD/73970/2010] to develop the work entitled "Design and fabrication of zonal cartilage constructs". She focussed her work on medical biotechnology, bioengineering, and biomaterials, particularly interested in the manipulation of biomaterials using mainly Additive Manufacturing Techniques combined with cells, such as mesenchymal stem cells, for the regeneration of cartilage.
