Marta Patrícia Carvalho dos Santos
Marta's research experience includes the production of electrospun polymeric membranes and their photo-crosslinking by UV irradiation, the development of polyamide microcapsules by interfacial polymerization, the synthesis and characterization of UV-curable polyester adhesives, and the production of polyurethane foams. Her work has led to co-authorship on 11 scientific papers, and she has actively contributed to the supervision of master's theses related to her projects. Marta has finished in July 2025 her PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Coimbra with a scholarship funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (2020.05675.BD) within the scope of TimeUp. This project, on which she continues to work, focuses on the development of a technology for monitoring and evaluating uropathogenic infections and has already resulted in the creation of a startup in 2023, of which she is currently CEO, and an international patent application in 2024.
