Cristina Maria Martins Alegria
She is a Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco at the Higher School of Agrarian Studies (IPCB-ESA). She completed her Ph.D. in Forest Engineering in 2004, her Master's degree in Plant Production (Silviculture) in 1993, and her Bachelor's degree in Silviculture (Forest Production Branch) in 1986 at the University of Lisbon, Institute of Agronomy. She holds a Certificate in Online Teaching Training from the Universidade Aberta and a Certificate in Advanced English (CAE - level C1) from the University of Cambridge.

She is a researcher at the Center for Studies on Natural Resources, Environment, and Society at IPCB (CERNAS-IPCB). Her areas of research and teaching are in Agricultural Sciences—Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries—specifically: forest inventory and growth and production modeling; planning, management, and sustainable forestry; and remote sensing and digital image processing. She is the course coordinator for the Postgraduate Program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (Agroforestry and Environmental Resources) and the Postgraduate Program in Forest Sciences, both offered in distance education mode by the Lifelong Learning Unit (UALV) of the Universidade Aberta de Lisboa (UAb), in partnership with IPCB.

She has served as the course coordinator for the Master's program in GIS - Agroforestry and Environmental Resources at IPCB-ESA. She has been a member of the scientific committees for the Master's program in GIS for Land Planning and Management at IPCB-IPT, the Master's program in Technologies and Sustainability of Forest Systems, and the Postgraduate program in Civil Protection at IPCB-ESA. She is an elected member of the General Council of IPCB and serves as President of the Technical-Scientific Council of ESA. Additionally, she has held the positions of President and Vice-President of the Pedagogical Council of ESA, as well as President and Vice-President of the Departmental Unit for Natural Resources and Sustainable Development at ESA.
