Filomena Gomes
Lecturer at the Coimbra / Polytechnic Higher School of Agriculture of Coimbra, Graduate in Forestry with master\’s and PhD in Plant Biology.
She began her professional career at the Escola Superior Agrária de Castelo Branco as a teacher in the field of Soils and Fertility (1982-85).
From 1985 to 1995 she worked in the area of forest improvement and plant propagation at Portucel Florestal.
Since 1995 she has been working at ESAC as a teacher in the Forestry Department and in ESAC courses associated with Forest and Biotechnology.
Since 2005 she has been working on plant breeding of Arbutus and Chestnut. In the case of Arbutus has been working particularly in the propagation of selected plants.
Since 2012, she has been collaborating in research and development projects (ProDeR and FCT), with several partners, to improve vegetal material and cultural practices, from plant to fruit, its transformation and incorporation into new products.
In the scope of the ProDeR projects, there is a collaboration between Research entities (ESAC, INIAV, Univ. Algarve), Development (DRAPC), Producers Associations (ADPM, CEVRM) and producers.
