Orlando Marcelino de Almeida Simões
Orlando Simões is an Agricultural Engineer (1984) with an MSc degree in Economics (1991) and a PhD in Agricultural Sciences (2001) from the University of Lisbon. He also has a post-graduate degree in Cultural Tourism from the University of Barcelona (2008) and holds the title of Professor with Habilitation from UTAD - University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (2019). He is a Coordinator Professor at the College of Agriculture of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra since 1986, where he teaches several subjects in the areas of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Management, Rural Development and Rural Tourism, and where he has held several management positions (head of department, coordinator of the graduate and master's degrees in Ecotourism, etc.). He is currently a researcher at CERNAS (Centre for Studies on Natural Resources, Environment and Society) and President of SPER (Portuguese Society for Rural Studies). He has edited and published books on topics related to the rural world and has published several articles in books, proceedings and in national and international scientific journals, with peer review.
